Zebra riding a bike

Moving parts: Driving from above

Primary • Ages 5 to 9

July 13 to 17 (5 mornings)

9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

$312+ GST

Christianne will set the tone for the week by reading The Mess That We Made by Julia Blattman and Michelle Lord, which chronicles the impact humans have on the environment. Then she will select snippets from Tales from the Patch by David Ward that call us to be creative as we turn trash into treasure.

Students will spend the week upscaling recycled materials (the Lyceum catalogue, local thrift stores and items from home), before fashioning materials together with wire and wheels to make toys in the spirit of the Galimotos from Malawi. These vehicles with moving parts are labours of love made by children without access to commercial gadgetry that we take for granted.

Never has it been more true that one person’s trash is another’s treasure and with this camp we encourage you to embrace the unknown. All you need to bring is a vivid imagination.

Our STEAM camps tend to be popular so check your calendar and sign up early.
