Another staple in the Lyceum’s summer schedule, this camp will arm your preschooler with stories from the most influential children’s authors/illustrators, or authorstrators. We’ll cover everyone from Oliver Jeffers to Mo Willems, Julia Donaldson to Linda Bailey, with Christianne highlighting their different styles and artistic sensibilities. This year we will also take time to explore the works of Jeremy Tankard, a British authorstrator who now resides in Vancouver.

Those of you who have ever attended programs with our youngest Lyceum-goers, will know the immersive experience that Christianne provides in her re-telling of Grumpy Bird. This book is an enchanting story of how the richness of our connections can turn even the biggest of frowns upside down. 

 

We’ll examine the style of all these illustrations exploring what defines each of them, before campers try their hand at creating images in the same style. Students will get to decide which style resonates with them, as they leave at the end of the week ready to continue practising at home.
