If you are unfamiliar with us, Christianne’s Lyceum of Literature and Art (the Lyceum) is a place that brings together book lovers of all ages, authors, illustrators, educators, and families to create and discuss stories across multiple media, forms, and literacies.

 

We believe that children across the community, regardless of their background, deserve equal access to quality literacy and arts education. That’s why, every autumn the Lyceum puts on a Scholarship Fundraising Gala to raise money for our scholarship bank.🕊️

 

🌹 This year, our goal was to raise $31,000—$25,000 for the scholarship bank, to support more than 30 children and teens who may not otherwise be able to attend our programming; and $6,000 to finish renovations of our new space (a small kitchenette, storefront sign, and garden upgrades). 

 

The gala, held on November 25th, was an evening to remember, and we want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended! Guests enjoyed fabulous food, great entertainment, heart-warming speeches, delicious new wines, and an outstanding and utterly unique silent auction.

 

We were delighted to make just shy of $20,000, almost ⅔ of our goal! But the excitement didn’t stop there...

 

At the end of the night, Doug and Anne Hayward of Sage Hayward Vineyards (our gala sponsors), gave an impromptu speech making an incredibly impactful pledge. 

 

They have offered to match ALL direct donations made until midnight on December 31st, 2023! That means if you donate $50, Doug and Anne will make it $100, and you’ve doubled your positive impact with half the effort! Or, perhaps you feel inspired to rally your group (i.e. workplace, club, family) to make a collective donation, sponsoring one term of Lyceum programming. In that case, Doug and Anne will make it TWO terms!

We all have someone each year who is tricky to buy for, consider giving them a beautiful certificate commemorating a donation made to the Lyceum scholarship program in their name. All contributors will be prominently honoured on our butterfly donor-wall at the Lyceum entrance.
