Natasha's Cafe: An evening of crafting and chatting
Ages teen
There is something so fulfilling about using our hands to create. The act of measuring and manipulating materials is so satisfyingly tactile, that it’s almost impossible to stop once you’ve started.
This summer we noticed in one of our evening camps for teens that it wasn’t just the act of beading, but the organic discussions alongside this that really brought the class to life. Continuing the magic into the school year, we have set aside a Friday every month where we’ll choose a short podcast series, opening it up for discussion as we craft using the Lyceum’s vast catalogue of materials. During the first half hour we’ll go over the skills and intricacies of the craft, as well as exploring the mediums to use, before we carry out discourse, design and delicacy.
Upon ideation, it seemed to be the perfect blend, putting together art and unique conversations with the next generation of great thinkers.
