Connecting & Caring for Our Environment

Unlike many paths through advocacy, children are very much so, at the forefront of the climate change movement and beginning in September, we want to put this prominently at the centre of our programming.

Through creative activities and unique works of literature, we are looking to build the kind of connection with our environment that engenders a sense of appreciation and respect. Over the course of the year, we will embark upon many projects that are representative of the groups’ curiosities and learnings. Some examples of these might be using crushed flowers to dye a variety of fabrics, foraging for natural remedies and upcycling previously loved clothing into Junk Kouture.

In our final term together, we will concentrate on finding opportunities through which we can share our knowledge and understanding with others, whether that is through the creation of multi-media canvas boards, posters, brochures or public installations. The teachings in this class will be put forth in a way that feels empowering and reinforces a sense of personal efficacy, even for the youngest members of the group.
