This year we’re switching it up by putting aside tragedy and focusing on Shakespearean comedy. In the light-hearted tale of The Merry Wives of Windsor, it’s not hard to find parallels between 1597 and now. Christianne will guide the group through a discussion around the mercenary motivations of Falstaff and how it’s difficult for his desires to transform into anything other than selfish behaviours. 

 

We aim to take in the play at Bard on the Beach Thursday evening. Of course, parents are welcome to join.

 

Before diving into a way to represent our learning, we’ll dissect what it is that makes vintage art unique and then have a go at creating a classic piece for ourselves. Using the entirety of the Lyceum’s rich collage resources, students will have free reign when it comes to their medium and composition. Choosing a favourite character, students will sketch then paint, before adding collaged quotes from the text to a thrifted vase or storage box.

 

Each teen will go home with a carefully crafted conversation piece to last a lifetime.
