A Whole Day with Sculpey

The malleability and colour mixing of polymer clays lead to so many creative possibilities. It can be mixed and mashed, rolled, pulled and pummeled into whatever form you’d like it to take. It gives depth to two dimensional portrait-scapes, as well as allowing artists to sculpt 3D figures in all the detail their heart desires.
In this one day camp students will be invited to tap into the Lyceum’s rich collection of sculpting tools and polymer clay for making miniature wonders to take home.
Our inspiration will be taken from millefiore beads, which have inspired oohs and ahs at craft fairs for years, making the delicate process of creating them more than worthwhile.
When you take these same beads, flatten and wedge them together in a small bowl mold, not only does this make a purposeful piece of art, but the effect is absolutely stunning.
We’ll broaden our creative cannon by working on tiny figures in the morning before moving on to our bowls in the afternoon. This camp is a great way to kick off the summer, and plan for future crafting experiences at home, or away.
