There’s something very special about choosing local; whether it’s local artisans, local landscapes or local learning. In this camp we will showcase five Canadian author-strators 

 

There’s a unique category of creator in literature called an author-strator, someone whose talents are vast and varied, someone who can both tell and paint the story. At this interplay between text and image lies a depth of meaning that is often overlooked. 

Across five mornings, we’ll work to make sure that your personal library reflects the home grown talent the group explores together. 

 

From Christina Leist to Jon Klasse, Melanie Watt to Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas, Christianne will take students through a rich catalogue of work before we dive into a true crafting experience. Campers will tackle everything from hat making to survival kits for camping, mixed media art on paper grocery bags and water droplet glass art pendants. Everyone will go home having encountered something new, and with a bounty of treasures that capture these learnings perfectly.

At the end of camp, children will have the opportunity to test their recognition skills as Christianne asks them to identify author-strators simply by seeing an isolated image.
