Yarn Bombing

Preteen & Teen • Ages 10+

July 17 to 21 (five evenings)

6:00 PM to 9:00 PM

$290 + GST

Through this camp, we’re reviving a crafting tradition that is often relegated to “Grannies” and at the same time support the tradition of yarn bombing as it goes through a resurgence worldwide. At the Lyceum’s new location on West 10th Ave, our neighbor just happens to be a wool shop; what perfect serendipity!  During this class, we’ll focus on brightening up our new community, while nurturing crafts that value the hand-centered skills.

Each evening, we’ll make one thing for home and one for ‘here’ as we listen to carefully curated stories and marvel at what we are able to make with our hands. As a group, we’ll look to get inspiration for yarn bombing bike racks, rocks and tree trunks, with the only limit being your imagination. This meditative practice is something that you teach your children and your children’s children. Our Elementary Literature and Art class started from ground zero in the canon of crocheting and after just four sessions emerged as teachers for their parents and others.
