Alice in Wonderland

9:00 AM TO 4:30 PM
AGES 5 TO 13

There are few tales as timeless, and few worlds as intricate, as Lewis Carroll’s Wonderland. As readers, we feel as though we ride right alongside Alice as her eyes widen with astonishment, at the new and exciting realms opening up before her. For the third gem in our Spring Break crown, students will practice the art of paper folding as Christianne shares her favourite excerpts from the original story. Working piece by piece, a three dimensional White Rabbit will emerge, not forgetting that we must cap him with his famous top hat and pocket watch. Of course, we can’t forget to add in hand-decorated playing card soldiers to usher Rabbit along the way, and delectable “Drink Me” bottles in case they get thirsty.

Parents will be impressed by the geometry of the low maintenance companions that make their way home with each child. During lunch break we will tease participants with the beginning of “Come Away,” Brenda Chapman’s new movie that dares to bring Neverland and Wonderland together through siblings Peter and Alice. Mind bending, right?

 The Book

On an ordinary summer's afternoon, Alice tumbles down a hole and an extraordinary adventure begins. In a strange world with even stranger characters, she meets a rabbit with a pocket watch, joins a Mad Hatter's Tea Party, and plays croquet with the Queen! Lost in this fantasy land, Alice finds herself growing more and more curious by the minute . . .
